The young designer, whom i've no doubt most of you have heard of, is finally becoming a household name Thanks to Sasha Fierce AKA Beyonce who wore one of his F/W 2008 dresses during a performance and another from S/S 2009 on the red carpet (it's the end of the world, right?). Now, I'm not exactly a fan of "All the single ladies" etc., but i am excited that a designer with such an artistic background is receiving so much attention.
In june 2008 Pugh won the Andam fashion award (a $212,000 prize) that enabled him to show in Paris and The New York times recently published an article praising Pugh as "the defender of fashion's avant-garde" which is exactly what he has turned out to be. In a way, Pugh mocks the consumer-driven fashion world with his otherworldly creations that are, for the most part, unwearable. It is only with his S/S 2009 collection that the garments will be up for sale. Gareth Pugh is one my most idolized fashion designers and i cannot wait to see what he has to reveal during fashion week.
