5 piece french wardrobe: in retrospective

It is always good to look back at things you did well or in which things you failed.
Looking back at the past three months I am very happy with my five special purchases and I have also found some amazing basics!
First here is the list I made in March + what I bought:
1: embellished sandals ---> bought some from Supertrash, exactly what I was looking for except for the quality, the embellishment is already a bit loose.
2: multicoloured skirt ---> after a long search I finally found the Isabel Marant skirt I wanted for such a long time, it's pure perfection!
3: breathtaking party dress ---> can I say more about this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress?
4: colourfull tank top ---> This Helmut Lang top has only one color but is definitely an eye-catcher! The soft is feathery thin, but feels so luxurious!
5: ?? ---> my Zara pink pants already stretched too much after a few times of wear and are too wide now, I will probably turn them into hotpants, as I like hotpants to be a little bit oversized.
And the Patrizia Pepe jacket is just amazing, wore it three times in one week, it is special, but not too flashy for everyday use!

I can say that everything I was looking for was found, my only small regrets is that the quality of my pants and sandals are not amazing, so they probably won't last very long.
I also bought one thing too much, because I just could not let that amazing Patrizia Pepe jacket pass when it was on sale with 50 % discount... But I made up and sold 2 Isabel Marant jackets, yes I made up big time!

For the summer my wishlist is simple:
Colours, prints and lots of Missoni. And for the basics the perfect black skinny jeans and a light beige Blazer. There are already some amazing items on my way and I am afraid I wont make it with 5 pieces...
My basics list will come up soon!!!

5 piece french wardrobe: Publication

I feel very honoured Volkskrant interviewed me about the 5 piece french wardrobe. As it has been a good help for me to improve my wardrobe, I really loved the subject! You can read the entire piece here (it's in the Dutch language)
In the pictures they show us in a completely neutral outfit and our 5 special pieces in the trees. It was a very funny experience to pose in the middle of the Sarphatipark (park in Amsterdam) with people staring at and even the police stopped by to ask what was happening. Also children were asking if we were selling clothes, hell no! hehe..

5 piece french wardrobe: The ultimate classic, a Chanel jacket!

One of the most perfect basic in your wardrobe is a Chanel jacket, it is perfectly made, you can wear it when you are 20 or 80 years old and it gives style to every look. As most of you know I was dreaming about owning a Chanel jacket one day and that day came earlier than expected: Sometimes I make "treasure hunts" on ebay, I search for designer things for nice prizes, I was lucky nobody else found it, I was the only bidder. I love how the fabrick is made up, the chain on the lower part to make it fall heavy and the buttons wich don't scream chanel but whisper it....

5 piece wardrobe: basic buys

Now spring has started, also new season for the 5-piece french wardrobe started.
My wishlist isn't full yet, but here it is:

5 pieces:
1: Embellished sandals in a light colour
2: Special top (found, coming soon)
3: a amazing, breathtaking dress (wich is also wearable for my cousin's wedding)
4: multicoloured skirt
5: ? (if something amazing from the old collection comes up online I might fill this one)

Basics:
- the perfect beige-grey jeans
- nice basic T's (black and pink)
- the perfect light beige blazer
- simple jacket
- the perfect tanktop (grey)

This list is just a guideline for me, I can always switch things if I want.
I already found a very budget-friendly (only 8 euro), but well made bright pink basic tee and the perfect beige jeans (on sale) it is still hard for me to spend more money on jeans, but together with my Marant trouwers I think I am on the right track and can focus on the nicer things like skirts, dresses and jackets!

Top: Hema
Pants: Citizens of humanity

Outfit: The perfect black trousers

For my 5-piece french wardrobe I really needed the perfect black pants.
I had one that had the perfect model for my body from Zara, but it was completely worn. I kinda hate buying pants because my hips really irritate me at those times.
But, I decided to search from now on for the best pants I could find to stop the pants from being the least appealing item in my wardrobe.
After a search in shops and online I found the perfect ones from Isabel Marant Etoile, wich is funny, because I wasn't planning to buy from her line(already bought too many items from her...), but they were just the nicest around!

PS. I am working on my first home-DIY! Hope to show it soon.

New Buy: Basics

Every wardrobe needs good basics and especially my white T's needed replacement. I heard from many people the basics from COS are quality vs price very good, so I will give it a try. I also found this triangle lace bra there. I think it will be perfect under tank-tops this summer.

New Buy: Isabel Marant Boucle jacket

When I saw all my clothes in my walk in closet, I realised how many basics I have and I have a lot of clothes! I have decided a few weeks ago to spend my money on one special item instead of many items. I now see I have so much more fun with buying one amazing jacket instead of 5 not-so-special ones. These brands that have amazing things, but are still kinda affordable are Rika, Acne, Etoile by Isabel Marant, T by Alexander Wang and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
I always wanted a boucle jacket from Isabel Marant and when I saw the slightly more affordable version from Etoile by Isabel Marant I snapped it up as quick as possible on Net-a-Porter I love how the fabric contains different colours like burgundy and blue if you look really close. Other places to shop Isabel Marant is de Bijenkorf and Buise, a shop on the Cornelis Schuytstraat.
I can't wait to receive my pretty black box!!!
