Nell Smith Collection pt. 1
Translucency Taken to New Lengths

Length in womens wear has been on the rise for sometime now. The latest take I've seen on it has to be my favorite. It involves a body con mini beneath a translucent wave of fabric like in the Shakuhachi collection below or as seen on Rumi (of fashiontoast) above. It's a fresh take on both translucency and length that makes the both more appealing.

Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2011
Satanic Ramblings
Marios Schwab's S/S collection got less than desireable reviews - and believe me, I understand why. The collection as a whole was full of leather and lace and was "dangerously cheap—or cheaply dangerous". That being said, there were a few pieces that caught my eye. I definitely got some satanic vibes with the meticulous lace work and subtle detailing. The sleeve of the garment pictured below to the right exemplifies wiccan influences. I'm in love with it.

Charles Anastase Spring 2011
Anastase's s/s 2011 collection made me want to melt. Once again, my flower child within was ignited - but this time with more reservations. The collection was not so much "hippy dippy" as it was 50s house wife meets cloud dwelling air fairy. This was refreshing because A.) i think it's time to put an end to my Angel Blake madness and B.) It was nice to see a new (possibly Alexa Chung inspired) outlook on the dreamy, ethereal qualities of the looks I seem to be eternally obsessed with. The creamy, pastel pallette and translucent fabrics were complimented by towering platforms akin to those worn by a young Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver - Of which I drooled over while watching the 1976 classic. The collection itself was not swaddled in floral wreaths and garlands, its reference to the two was less concrete. This intangibility was originally what drew me to the collection.
