Lady Miss Keir & Being Straight Up Groovy
Deee-lite was one of those bands I grew up listening to that mesmerized me not only with their music but with the visuals that accompanied it, most notably, the over the top fashion sense of Lady Miss Keir. Her style was somewhere between psychedelic 60's muse and early nineties rave girl with a slight hint of almost indecipherable drag queen. The high pony tail, the patterned body suits, and the platform heels created an iconic memorable look that became the character of Lady Miss Keir. Her sensibility and fearless approach to fashion are difficult to come by these days. That being said, I find myself gravitating towards high waisted disco pants, ridiculously tall wedges, hoop earrings and huge hair more and more - there's no question Miss Keir has something to do with that.
If there's anyone who can properly channel Lady Miss Keir's groovy chic it's this girl. If you know her name I would love to know.
