This year the London College of Fashion produced a handful of bright young designers, but few caught my eye like the 23-year-old Venezuelan, Neliana Fuenmayor. That's right, Fuenmayor is not from Sweden or any other part of Europe for that matter (as are so many of the up-and-coming designers I blog about). This South American born and bred brainchild of the LCF is redefining sustainable design. her fair trade fibers and oversized weaves give the illusion of fur while her sunglasses are made of waste wood and seem to embody a very modern, Karen Walkeresque silhouette. Neliana Fuenmayor's aspirations amount to those of any other BA fashion graduate's - a line of her own - and with innovation like this, it may soon be possible.
