Old Times

AKA... three months ago when school was almost out and the only thing that seemed to be ahead was summer. Now school has begun again and i'm entering feeling as if my whole summer was condensed into one short week.

new (ferocious) boots

Today was my last day of freedom before the dreaded school grind begins tomorrow. I'm shocked by how quickly the summer went by and SO FREAKIN PISSED OFF i have to do stuff tomorrow... and get up at 6. But i got these shoes.. they're a bit to hot to wear anywhere for a couple of months but i figure i prolly bust them out in November when it's no longer 100 degrees every day.

O ya, sorry for the crappy photo, my nice camera's missing a connect-y cord

Would You like a Cupcake?

Tomorrow my neighbor opens her bakery Sugar Mama's Bakeshop. She's been dreaming about it forever and it's finally happening! She had hoped to have it open by June, then July, and now.. August and i was supposed to be working there all summer. Now i'll just have to settle for Saturdays. Tonight was a little party at the shop with tons of free cupcakes and cookies for friends and family. I did my part as the "counter girl" dolling out the goodies, here's what I wore. P.S. Music To Inspire: Alaché

Alaché has been a part of the music industry since she was a teenager. She produced her first full length album You're My World under the helm of Nigerian recording superstar Panam Percy Paul. Now at 25, and ready to reinvent herself, Alaché has teamed up with vocal coach and producer Gerry Williams, who’s literally worked with every major pop star birthed from that highly fertile scene (including Mandy Moore and Raven Symone). Gerry believes she is a unique talent whose music can inspire very many people.

Alaché is a fresh artist who comes at a time when music lovers need that engaging inspiration. Her songs are upbeat and spiritual and they cover issues from insecurities to faith to joyous emotions with the single track Higher. Slow Summer

i apologized for the lack of posts over the school year and now i apologize for the lack of posts over the summer... I really have no excuse other than i'm lazy. running a blog is too much work!!! i'd rather just shop at vintage and thrift stores - which i've done an abundance of in my free time. This summer i practically bought myself an entirely new wardrobe and most of it cost under $10. Besides the shopping i've been dabbling in sewing and riding my bike around with ARI i've also read a few books, (Go ask Alice,The Answer is Always Yes, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower) i'm usually not one for teen books but i am 15 after all.

Summer 2008 Issue: The Good Life

It took a while to publish MIMI's Summer 2008 issue, but with double the number of articles, and stories touching countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, Ethiopia, and Cameroon, this issue is worth the wait! Nigerian actress and producer, Dakore Egbuson graces MIMI's Summer 2008 cover and is featured in the story Nollywood's Darling, where she opens up about her passions, her triumphs, and her aspirations. MIMI also has a feature story about fellow Nollywood star, Ramsey Noah in the article Nollywood And The Northern. Rounding out our African film feature stories is the article From Khayelitsha To The World Stage, about South African actress Pauline Malefane, who is best known for her role as Carmen in U-Carmen e-Khayelitsha.

With double the content than our regular issues, the summer issue is not all about Africa on the big screen. MIMI has fashion tips to live by from The House of Style, a review of the best designs from Sanlam South Africa Fashion Week's Winter Collections, a real-life account about Being The Other Woman, and motivational tips to get you to Live Life Without Limits, among many other stories. For more of what the Summer 2008 issue has to offer, visit MIMI Magazine. Happy reading!
