My Oh Mi(ley Cyrus)!

Hello Lovelies!
Happy Tuesday, I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the fabulous summer weather. I just traveled down to Melbourne to
visit my friends at the beach and have a girls-only Eclipse Weekend.
The movie was amazing, if you haven't seen it yet,
quit reading this, get in your car and drive to the closest movie theater.
Be sure to drive like a Cullen on the way.

ANYWAY, on to what I'd really like to write about.
It seems like Miss Miley Cyrus has been turning up in the news quite a bit nowadays...and never for the right reasons.
I'll admit, even though I'm in my 20's, when I wake up on Saturday mornings, I'll eat breakfast and watch The Suite Life of Zack and Cody as well as Hannah Montana...Laugh if you want, but
I know you do it too!

With all the buzz surrounding this girl, I have to
ask a few questions:
1.What happened to the old Miley we know and love?
2. Why is she suddenly anti-pants?
3. Why would any parent allow their daughter to act this way?
4. Is anyone actually buying her CD's?

Ok, we get it, you can't be tamed.
You're almost 18 and you enjoy showing off your tattoos and pencil-thin body.
But seriously, have you lost your mind?!
Miley, bless your little pea-pickin' heart,
(as we say here in the south)
I do believe you've gone off your rocker.

It seems as though our dear little Miley is on a mission to experience
everything life has to offer by the time she's 18.
Since when did "growing up" become synonymous with "becoming a slut"?

Pole dancing, lap dancing, lingerie shopping sprees and faux-lesbian kisses... this girl is on a fast track to become the next LiLo.
(Get your SCRAM anklets ready)

What do you all think about Miley and her behavior?
Is this just a part of growing up or is she out of control?

New Obsession: Florence and the Machine

Hello Lovelies!
I just discovered this amazing singer, her name is Florence,
more commonly known as
Florence and the Machine.
Her voice is amazingly beautiful, she puts so much into emotion
and soul into her songs.
Plus, I love her style and her hair is gorgeous!

I got some pictures together of her in her amazing clothes, I also added
a link to one of my favorite songs, Drumming Song.
Have you all heard of her before, what do you think of her voice
and her outfits?

An "Oldie" But Goodie: Zoe's Golden Rebellion

Written By: MIM!Zoe's Golden Rebellion may have been released in 2007, but the album remains in heavy rotation, especially during the summer, because of it's sweet reggae sounds. With a voice that's a cross between Nneka and Marie Daulne (of Zap Mama), you'll likely enjoy the album if you're a fan of natural (read: not overly produced) reggae.

The gorgeous Miss Sara again.

p.s. Am madly packing for a little trip to Paris for a couple of days-I just checked the temps and it is going to be hot, hot, hot! See you all when I get back (with some new photographs I hope. I bet a lot of you will be sighing with relief to have a little break from the Aus photographs!)

London Street Style...Summer in the City #1

Ahhhh so this is what you do with all those pretty string and leather bracelets, shell necklaces, and exotic pieces that you buy on holiday*.....pop everything on with a simple summer dress, braid your hair and slip on some sandals like Rikki (an actor from Norway) has here.
Denim teeny-tiny shorty-shorts accessorised with Chanel and stripey tank:
*Does anyone else seem to find themselves buying little pieces of jewellery on holidays (and feeling extraordinarily pleased with oneself because no one else back home will have exactly same thing) and then pulling them out of your suitcase and wondering exactly when/where/how you are going to be able to wear them again? Or is that just me?! I think sun+afternoon cocktails+relaxation turns my willpower to mush :)

She Defines Soul.Substance.Style (No. 012): Somi

[ click image for larger version ]

Written By: MIM!—
A true multicultural woman, Somi was born in Illinois to immigrants from Rwanda and Uganda, then spent her early childhood in Zambia. The African cultural legacy, always crucial to her sound, is as vital as ever in her current music, which Somi likes to call New African Soul. But so too is the music she heard upon relocating to New York, with American jazz singers like Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughan. Blending tradition and modernity, like the jazz greats—Miriam Makeba, Cesaria Evora and Sade—who paved the path for her, Somi is adding her own musical interpretation and leaving a musical footprint as this generation's voice of African soul and jazz. Oh Kurt, Where Have You Been All My Life?

Hello Lovelies!
I've made a life changing decision...I'm moving to England.
Seriously.
You women over there are so lucky, you have the best shopping, not to mention Lush Bubble Bars are like a million times cheaper.
Get me a boat and a handsome man to row it because I'm crossing the
pond and I'm not looking back.

Hercules- KG

What could have possibly led me to this decision?
Well ladies, I've discovered Kurt Geiger and his fabulous shoes.
He is now the love of my life, I shall die in a happy, shoe-induced bliss.
Not to mention, his website is having some
INSANE sales right now!!!!!
I'm also loving shoes by Carvela, which are also sold on the site.
I can kiss my paycheck goodbye because I have shopping to do.
Here are some of my favorites, go on the site and
let me know which ones you like!

She's Just Like Magic: Zamajobe

You Look Like Victoria, Eclipse

Hello Lovelies!
It's Part 4 of my Twilight Outfit Saga!
Today, we're on to one of the main villains of the series...
Victoria.
She's extremely beautiful, cat-like, and has hair so red it looks like fire.
She's also exceptionally cruel and vengeful.
The beauty she exhibits on the outside is merely a cruel irony in comparison to her wicked heart.

I think every woman has little Victoria in her.
I mean to say that we all have something in us that makes us strong and mysterious...our inner femme fatale.
Let's tell the truth, Victoria is pretty cool...to say it bluntly, she kicks butt.
She's strong and can hold her own.
When designing Victoria's outfit, I wanted it to reflect her personality,
so I gave it a somewhat militaristic vibe. It had to be something that would hold up against excessive amounts of traveling through harsh
terrain but still look stylish.
The back of the cobweb shirt is amazing and I love the Raven Skull
and Om Necklaces. I added a fox ring because of it's symbolism.
To Native Americans, the fox represented an animal that could lure a person to their demise, just as Victoria destroys everyone she comes into contact with.
Here's the outfit I came up with, do you like it?
PS, if you like the Raven Skull Necklace but don't want to pay an
arm and a leg for it, you can find the exact same thing
on Etsy.com for as little as $25!
Plus, they're all handmade originals by artists around the world!

Running With the Fash Pack....Australian Fashion Week 2010

Nina Stolter, journalist (for Stylesight in NYC), whose fab outfits and even more gorgeous jewellery I kept fawning over during Australian Fashion Week. After oohing and ahhing over her industrial-pretty necklaces, Nina informed me that they are from her own collection, Von Kottwitz jewellery, which she started in 2004 (and named after her mama who is from Berlin).

Each piece is handcrafted by Nina in her studio and is incredibly well priced, especially when you consider how much mass-produced, high street jewellery costs (which every other person is then wearing).

Nina teamed her necklace with her mama's vintage top and Alexander McQueen sandals.

The Parallel necklace in gold....not sure where Nina got her snakeskin leggings and gold top.
